In the summer of 1999, the Hot Buttered Rum headed for California's Sierra Nevada mountains in search of the high lonesome sound of mountain music. After a month of hiking, climbing, pickin' & singin', HBRSB brought back a new sound: High Altitude Bluegrass.

Hot Buttered Rum's music appeals to traditional bluegrass aficionados as well as the most discerning folk audiences and dance-hungry jam-band fans. This talented group of musicians thrive in both quiet concert settings and wild dance halls. They deliver a fresh sound grounded in tradition - nodding to the past and sitting squarely in the present - as a multi-generational audience quickly grows around them.

Hot Buttered Rum has performed for festivals around the nation such as The High Sierra Music Festival and The San Francisco Bluegrass & Old Time Music Festival. They've shared the stage with many esteemed colleagues such as The String Cheese Incident, Yonder Mountain String Band, Peter Rowan, Darol Anger, Bruce Molsky, the Waybacks, Tony Furtado & Vinyl. They've also performed at venues such as the legendary Fillmore Auditorium and The Great American Music Hall.
